This incredible association promotes Cape Town as a world-class city, not only for swimming but for tourism too.
The aim of this prestigious organisation is to promote and expose long distance open water swimming in general; to help record and officiate all open water solo swims in Cape waters and to promote Cape Town as a popular swimming destination.
The CLDSA recently acquired the Freedom Swim Series from founder Ram Barkai, and has rebranded the series as the Cape Swim Series. The races that form part of this series, in proud respect to some of our public holidays, are: Youth Day Swim; Women’s Day Swim; Reconciliation Day Swim; Heritage Day Swim and Human Rights Day Swim.
The increase in participation over the past few years in open water swimming has been astounding. Young and old have been seen bracing an array of conditions for their love of this sport. The CLDSA is excited about growing the sport even further, and the Mica Cape Swim Series is a strong foundation for the future.
